French Walnut Secretaire Abattant c.1830.

Early 19th.c. French walnut secretaire abattant or writing bureau c.1830. Open the fall to reveal a large sloping desk (height 31″) with the original leather writing surface. Fitted interior with an open bookshelf, one long and five small stationery drawers and seven pigeon holes. Plus two small secret compartments opening with sprung catches behind the longer drawer. With a long frieze drawer above the bureau and three drawers below plus a fifth drawer hidden in the plinth. Beautifully figured honey coloured walnut veneers laid in a symmetrical pattern across the fall and drawer fronts. With shield shaped mother of pearl escutcheons and interior veneered to match. Solid walnut sides, pine panelled back and oak drawer sides. Retaining the original locks  and raised on the original square feet. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Keys supplied
