French Ormolu Mounted Semainier Chest of Drawers. c.1930.

Very impressive early 20th.c. French semainier chest of drawers c.1930. So called because it has seven drawers, one for each day of the week, ideal for clothes, accessories or even filing. A little larger than many we see, with the original green marble top over seven drawers with symmetrically arranged kingwood veneers within an inlaid and crossbanded border. Rounded corners and sides also veneered and crossbanded to match. Exceptional ormolu mounts, handles and escutcheon plates, note the fine oak leaf swags to the top drawer. Further mounts to the apron and front feet. Hardwood drawer linings and original locks. Repairs to the front left hand bottom corner. Otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Keys supplied.
