French Mahogany Secretaire Abattant c.1840.

Mid 19th.c. French beidermeier style mahogany secretaire abattant or writing bureau c.1840. Open the fall to reveal a large sloping desk (28″ minimum knee height below) with a leather writing surface. Fitted interior with an open bookshelf plus one long and five small stationery drawers. With a long frieze drawer above the bureau and three more drawers behind lockable doors below. Original grey marble top with rounded front corners. Exceptionally well figured flame mahogany veneers arranged in a beautiful symmetrical pattern across the fall and door fronts and continued on the interior and lower drawer fronts. Moulded plinth, also veneered to match and raised on shaped bracket feet to the front. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Note the original locks, keys supplied.
