French Dresser Base with Painted Detail c.1800.

Early 19th.c. French cherry wood dresser base c.1800.  Three plank top over two drawers and a two door cupboard base fitted with a single shelf inside. A really lovely example of the form with some exceptional detail to the front. Note the saw-tooth inlaid border to the drawer fronts which also feature a repeat of the large and decorative pierced steel door plates. Most unusual however is the original painted detail which remains in the scratch carved decoration of plants in vases and jugs which runs up the centre and across the base.  Shaped and moulded apron to the front and sides and shaped front feet ending with unusual scrolling feet. Earlier worm holes and repairs to the back legs. Otherwise excellent condition and attractive pale colour. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Original cupboard key supplied.
