Exceptional 18th.c. Potboard Dresser & Rack c.1740.

Exceptional large mid 18th.c. oak Welsh dresser from South Wales c.1740. Four tier plate rack with moulded cornice and ogee arch canopy over an open potboard dresser base with three long drawers. Fabulous deep shaped apron below the drawers with unusual carved and pierced scroll detail. Raised on four crisply turned column front legs joined with the potboard display shelf. Simple shaped detail to the sides of the rack and cupid’s bow shape sides on the base. Moulded detail to the edge of the dresser top and raised panel drawer fronts with large brass knobs (later replacements). Superb early timbers with original thick oak back boards and drawer linings. Some earlier repairs, most obviously to the feet. Excellent condition with particularly good colour and patina.
