Early 19th.c. Primitive Armchair c.1820.

Extraordinary large early 19th.c. primitive armchair c.1820. Unusual high back in ash and oak with shaped finials and six straight spindles. Broad arms of particularly good grain and patina over a fabulous large slab seat made from a single block of elm three inches thick at the rear edge. Raised on splayed legs simply shaped with a draw knife rather than turned. Great rustic character with obvious wear and repairs. Otherwise good condition, solid, sturdy and perfectly useable.
