Cotswold School Oak Table by Gordon Russell c.1936.

Very handsome Cotswold School style pale oak side table by the celebrated British furniture designer Gordon Russell c.1936. In solid oak throughout and unusual dimensions, being six feet long but just two feet wide, seats three down each side as a narrow dining table or ideal as a long console table or sideboard. Top made of four boards over a shallow apron with simple moulded detail. Raised on four square column legs with distinctive fluted detail to each side. Known as the ‘Weston’ range the design is typical of Russell’s work combining the traditional materials and philosophy of the Arts & Crafts movement with a Modernist aesthetic. With original makers label to the underside, also a small presentation plaque at one end dated 1936. Some marks to the top, generally very good original condition.
