Exceptional Arts & Crafts copper stick or umbrella stand for Liberty & Co c.1890. Very much in the manner of John Pearson who worked for William de Morgan before becoming a founder member of the Guild of Handicraft and master craftsman and instructor at the celebrated Newlyn school of metalwork whose work was frequently retailed by Liberty. 12″ diameter cylinder decorated with three repoussé panels each featuring a mythical scene of a dragon battling a serpent. Joined with expressed rivets to strap supports over a conforming tray base with raised sides. Clearly stamped Liberty & Co. London on the underside. Excellent condition.
